The Future of Plymouth’s official opening took place on Friday the 9th May 2014 at Plymouth City Council House between 5-7pm. Formal invites were sent out through email to all staff and students of Plymouth College of Art as well as members of the council. As well as this, a Facebook event page was created in order to collect a list of names in which we could send through to the council. During the opening, Councillor Chris Penberthy also gave the public a great speech about the exhibition and the project we as a group of students alongside Lee McDonald had been working on. Chris also discussed how The Future of Plymouth was the first artwork created site-specifically for the building for 50 years which was a lovely thought to consider.

The turnout for The Future of Plymouth official opening was quite good with even the members of the council participating with the sculptural piece and with many people interested in the wall pieces. Free wine and snacks were also available to everyone and were supplied by the council themselves which helped to create a nice atmosphere for the evening. During the opening we also collected four orders for prints of the wall pieces and also discussed the possibility of the council buying two whole sets of framed prints from us which would total to £660, leaving us with a good profit and reimbursing our budget spent on the exhibition itself. Over all the response towards The Future of Plymouth was very good.
